Fifteen years studying still life through the mediums of acrylic, conte, soft pastel and oil pastel, whetted my passion for more….
And so, recently, over the last 5 years I have embarked upon an exploration of abstract painting as well….
This endeavour has been strongly influenced by my recent 10 year involvement in solo improv dance performance, where being in the moment and having a full understanding of the elements of dance, were paramount to my creative artistic expression…Early dance studies, followed by teaching of creative movement, choreography, performance and various creative dance expressions, all evolving over a 45 year period, contributed to this artistic development…
My art and still life studies began and continue with Gail Ashby; and include courses at TSA, AGO, Neilson Park, and others…I also have practised life drawing for the last 4 years in the West End Life Drawing Collective….
Over the past several years, I have shown my visual art in numerous WAAC shows, group shows with other artists, and a solo exhibit featuring still life…..
The feel of paint on my brush, colour, texture, shape, expressing myself in the moment, being on the brink of discovery – these are the things that I enjoy about art and which draw me to it. I am most at peace, most myself, when painting and dancing…..
