Pia Israelsson lives and works in Toronto, and relaxes on a tiny island on a big lake in Northern Ontario. Pia is a new member of WAAC, and is delighted to be helping with the Darkness Into Light show.
As a student of architecture, Pia has travelled extensively in Europe, seeking out ancient, modern and contemporary art treasures in Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Austria, Italy, France and Spain. Pia is especially grateful to Rome, and Venice and everything in-between.
Through her drawings, paintings, and installations, Pia invites you to reflect on the qualities of fragility, uncertainty and incompleteness in our lives, and to look for the strength and power within them.
During this time of social isolation, Pia can be found wondering at the roots of plants in her garden, or immersed in her collection of artist monographs, letters, and biographies. She is currently reading Originals: American Women Artists by Eleanor Munro.
